Since its inception in 1949, Father Abbé Pierre’s vision has both multiplied and spread throughout the world.

Today, Emmaus International is present in 4 continents and 36 countries. As of 2012, Emaus comprises about 317 affiliates worldwide.

Each Emaus group, however, looks a little bit different. The means taken by each organization are tailored to fit the developmental needs of the community, region, and country in which they operate, and take various forms. These include but are not limited to: recycling programs, agrictulture, education, literacy projects, human rights advocacy, housing development, environmental activism, and public health.
